Jake Asked: My girlfriend’s dad beat me up!?

OK so last week I went to visit the city that I used to live in last year and during the visit, I obviously wanted to see my girlfriend, who still lives there. A little information about her family so you can understand the situation a bit better – she comes from a Muslim family (means father is EXTREMELY protective and they have a lot of rules to follow). However, because we live in this day and age, she doesn't follow all of them very strictly and thus, doesn't feel confined and obligated to do certain things. Anyway, we've been dating for a little over a year now and we are just CRAZY about each other. Both of us would do anything for each other no matter what the situation is. The thing is, BECAUSE her family is very protective and conservative Muslims, they don't appreciate her having a boyfriend and all that kinda stuff, so they disallow her to do certain things that other people her age do. (I'm 17, she's 15).

So back to the actual story. Last week when I had gone to visit, I kind of secretly saw her a few times which was really nice because I hadn't seen her in a couple months. On the day before I had to leave back to my city, she wanted to see me one last time and absolutely BEGGED me to come to somewhere right near her place to see her. I always had a bad feeling about it because I knew if something bad happened, both her and I would get screwed, but because she was pleading and because I love her, I just had to go to see her. It was on a Sunday night at about 10 o'clock when I went to see her. She had to give an excuse to leave her place and told her parents that she was going to go take a shower in her room, so she locked the door and kept the water running a bit so they could hear it. She snuck out from her balcony which is not too hard because there are a bunch of ledges and what not. Anyway she came to the place I was supposed to meet her and we had a really good time because I got to talk to her and see her one last time and just be with her. Then because showers don't take THAT long, she had to go back after sometime so her parents wouldn't get suspicious. RIGHT when we were saying our goodbyes, she looked to the right cause she saw someone walking on the other side of this glass window and she noticed it was her dad. She told me to RUN and get the hell out of the place but the problem was, one of the ways to get out, was the way her dad was coming, and the other one was into a parking garage kind of place and was pretty much closed because it was so late. I had to run into the garage and he came and started screaming at me and immediately came up to me and cornered me in the garage. He's like pretty tall – 6 feet and in good shape. He started swearing at me profusely and then socked me in the face once. Then he went on saying 'I'll f***ing kill you, you b*****d'. I didn't want to hit him back because that would just make matters worse and things between my girlfriend would become weird as well. Anyway he punched me in the face 4 more times, while my girlfriend tried to stop him, he swung her hand away. Then I began saying sorry, I'm sorry (even thought he didn't even see me DO anything bad) and my girlfriend tried to give an excuse saying I'm just a friend from school. Finally after like 10 minutes of just physical violence and abusive language he stopped, and I just got the hell out of the place as quick as I can. Later that night my girlfriend called me and started crying and saying it was all her fault, she should have gone back earlier and stuff like the, telling me she was sorry. I told her it wasn't a big deal and things between us are the same and good as always and then she told me that her dad felt a bit bad afterwards and took her out to ice cream (WTF?!?!) But anyways. What should I do about the situation? I feel really stupid though, because I could have fought back, or I could do something about the situation because it was pretty serious (there is now a red spot in my right eye for the past week, told my mom it was from basketball). Any idea how I could go about this situation?
