Stitch while Jogging?

Asked: Stitch while Jogging?

I have been jogging for quite some time now but on and off. The only problem is, is that after I have taken a small break say a week or two of not going jogging but still doing Horseback riding and I start up running again, after a few times I go jogging, I get this horrible side stitch. Yesterday I only managed to go 2km as opposed to my usual 6km. I have tried different breathing techniques and not eating a few hours before I go etc. The stitch is on my right side, right under the rib cage. Could this have to do with me not having enough core strength? I do not do any sit ups or crunches or anything, just jogging and Horseback riding. How can I get rid of them? And what causes them?

Thanks
