Im Not Here Asked: What can I do to fix my laptop screen?

I shut my laptop while it was still on (have done it many times before without and issues at all) and when I came back and opened it, the screen would not light up.

It was still on and running (running just the same as when I had used it before),I tried turning the lighting up and down. Nothing. Tried changing the screen resolution, didn't think it would work, but I wanted to try anyway.

I then stupidly turned it off (via holding the power button down for 5 seconds), but when I tried to turn it back on, not only did the screen not light up, but the computer started making this very loud (and I mean loud) beeping noise.

I do not know what is going on, I do not think my computer has a virus (all the sites I was on when I shut the laptop are sites I have been on hundreds of times with no problems), and I don't think that closed it roughly enough that it would kill the computer.

I don't know if I mentioned, the computer its self does turn on. The power button lights up and the usb mouse shows that it is getting power.

I don't know what else to do. I'm kind of freaking out, because I am home alone with it and my Dad doesn't know what has happened yet. When he does he will most likely kill me, even though I technically didn't do anything.

The laptop is a Dell Inspiron (if you need that info)

If anyone can help that would be amazing, I really want to try and get this fixed as soon as possible.
